Ministers Puppet Ministry
The ministry began in the Fall of 2002
with Lynn Brown as the director and eight puppeteers, three of which are
still part of our team. We began with 10 puppets that we obtained
through a puppet adoption program within our church. Our stage was
built of PVC pipe and homemade curtains. With eager and willing
hearts and our team verse of Matthew 5:16, which kept us focused, we
jumped right into performances in our church. The first 2 years we
performed for our church family only. At the beginning of our
third year, we felt it was time to minister to others outside our
congregation with our ultimate goal of reaching out to those who have
not had the joy of being in relationship with Jesus Christ. Since
the beginning of this ministry, we have been privileged to perform in
various towns, including Marion IL, Metropolis IL, East St. Louis IL,
Belleville IL, Breese IL, Marine IL, Perryville MO and many others.
We have performed for school audiences, United Methodist Men's groups, a
clergy gathering, many congregations, children at Lessie Bates-Davis
Neighborhood House, the visitors at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows
during the Christmas season, and many others. In 6 years of
ministry, our team has not only grown in numbers, but also spiritually.
God has blessed this ministry in so many ways--he has given us the
passion to teach, entertain, and serve in His name. He has
inspired other adults to join in this ministry, and He continues to
bring us children who are excited to serve Him through puppetry.
As this ministry continues to be molded and shaped by God, we continue
to be inspired and are thankful that we have a church family who is very
supporting of our efforts.
"Shine Your Light"
(features black light puppetry) - Length: 45 minutes to 1 hour
Appropriate for audiences of all ages!
Based on the scripture verse Matthew 5:16
* God is our power-source and gives us what we need so
that we can "shine" for others.
"Jesus Loves
Children" (suitable for Toddlers-4th Grade) - Length: 20-30
minutes
Based on scripture Matthew
19:13-15
* Encourages children to accept Jesus as their forever
friend and lets them know how important they are to Him.
"The Too Mighty Show" (suitable for
5th grade through adult) - Length: 45 minutes
* This show is based on the Tonight Show with its very
own host - Ray Jeno. The show is all about Super Heroes and
includes interviews with the Bible's strongman, Samson, as well as a
fictional character Pikopig.
"Helping Others Help You"
(appropriate for all ages) - Length: 30 minutes
*This show was written for a secular audience.
The theme is caring and helping others. The lead character, Jimmy,
transforms into 'Super Duper Helper Guy' and tries to do good and BIG
deeds for others. He later discovers that everyone can be a hero.
"Praise the Lord" (appropriate for
toddlers through 6th grade) - Length: 20 minutes
Based on the scripture Psalm 150:6
*God is good! By keeping Satan out of our hearts
and minds we are showing our Love for God and therefore giving Him
praise!
